IPOB: Saraki’s statement personal opinion, says Presidency

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity , Femi Adesina, says Senate President Bukola Saraki ’ s statement on the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra is his personal opinion and not that of the Senate .
Adesina said this during an interview with American -based Nigerian journalist , George Otumu , after attending the United Nations General Assembly.
Saraki , had in a statement on Monday, described the military ’ s declaration of IPOB as a terrorist organisation as illegal . He also said the South - East governors who announced the proscription of IPOB had no powers to do so . He said there were legal processes to making such declarations .
In his reaction , however , Adesina said , “ The Senate President must have conveyed a private opinion , as the Upper House was still on recess when he said what he said. ”
