Saraki’s comments, an endorsement of IPOB’s activities —Lawmakers

A group of members of the House of Representatives , under the aegis of the Progressive Caucus , has described comments made by the Senate President , Bukola Saraki , on the Indigenous People of Biafra ’s proscription as an endorsement of the group ’s activities .
Saraki had on Monday described IPOB’ s proscription by the military and South - East governors as unconstitutional .
He had gone on to say, “ Our laws make clear provisions for taking such actions and without the due process being followed , such declaration cannot have effect . ”
However , the House Majority Whip , Ado Doguwa , had criticised the Senate President over his views on the subject.
Towing Doguwa ’ s path , members of the Progressive Caucus in the House on Friday castigated Saraki over his comments.
Their views were contained in a statement signed by Aliyu Madaki , Sani Zorro and Mohammed Soba .
Members of the caucus said they were shocked beyond belief that Saraki could make such a statement because what he had done is to “ willy - nilly endorsed the murderous activities of the proscribed IPOB . ”
This , they argued , was based on arguments that were bereft of reason , rationality or logic .
The lawmakers further argued that a clear pattern of overt support to the leader of the “ terrorist group ” [ Nnamdi Kanu ] had since been established under the watch of the Senate President for some time .
