The PDP National Working Committee led Chairman, Mr. Second us has been advised to checkmate Gov. Ayo Fayose in the Ekiti State governorship election in July 14, 2018.
The aspirants in the Ekiti State governorship election are former Minister of Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Sen. Biodu Olujimi, Owoseemi Ajayi and Amb. Dare Bejide had in a joint press conference last Monday demanded that Gov. Ago Fayose should be prevented from interfering with the PDP primary in picking her candidate.
In his own reaction, Gov. Fayose assured all that the State Government has no role to play in the election, adding that it remained the prerogative of the Chief Uche Secondus led National Working Committee of the Party.
"I have no role to play. Only the NWC will present the delegate lists for them to elect the candidate. So I won't interfere despite my support to Prof. Kolapo Olusola," he explained.
Fayose even expressed confidence that his party will defeat Dr. Kayode Fayemi again if he picks All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the July 14, 2018 governorship election in the State.
On whether he has shelved his aspiration to contest for Presidency in 2019 election, the PDP strongman disclosed that the Party's decision to zone the Presidential ticket to the North has nothing to do with his own resolve to contest for the position in 2019.
"I am still in the Presidential race. I am only waiting for the time Ekiti Governorship election will hold so I can have the time. Though I am making contacts, I am reaching out to the people that matter across the country," he remarked while interacting with teachers in primary and secondary schools at the Government house in Ado Ekiti.
