GET YOUR PVC. IT'S YOUR WEAPON - OHANAEZE CHIEFTAIN

Ndigbo in Mushin area of Lagos State, have been called upon to do all legally within their power to get their Permanent Voters Card ( PVC).
Speaking to the nationguardnews.com in his shop in Ilasamaja Mushin, Lagos, the newly elected chairman of Ohanaeze, Mushin Chapter, Lagos, Chief Eugene Omeje enjoined all Ndigbo residing in Mushin Lagos to strive to get their permanent voters card (PVC) to enable them decide who governs them.
Chief Omeje who is the chairman and chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Eugenco International Ltd, expressed displeasure over non challant attitude of some Igbo citizens when it comes to political matters in the nation.
"Your PVC is your power. Without it you have no power to choose who governs you. And you have no right to blame any elected leader when you couldn't exercise your civic responsibility. With your PVC, you are like a farmer going to the farm who hoe, without matches. How can he harvest his farm produce?
" Over seventy percent of unclaimed PVC in the INEC office belong to Ndigbo, and they don't care about it. General election 2019 is fast approaching. May I appeal to Ndigbo to be politically conscious by arming themselves with all that is required to vote and be voted for during elections in the country.
" By playing football, draft, shot, watching films, or relax in beer parlours drinking and enjoying with friends, etc during elections, registering to get cards, etc, we marginalize ourselves, mortgage future of our children.
" We must be serious like our tribes by enduring the rain, sun and other hazards of nature in order to get our rights and privileges."
On his plan as chairman of Ohanaeze Mushin Chapter, Chief Omeje who was the immediate past vice chairman of Independent Businessmen Association (IBA) Ilasamaja Branch, said that his main agenda is to unite Ndigbo Mushin, using Ohanaeze as the umbrella.
" Ndigbo in Mushin, and in most order places in the country, have been marginalized, intimidated, unprotected, underrepresented. So my regime will reposition Ndigbo Mushin. They have been like sheep without shepherd. My government, through the support of the people, will give them a voice, unite them and make them speak in one voice.
" There are over 58 markets in Mushin. We can use this platform to mobilize and unite the people. If we unite, we will achieve a lot. Once united, we can win elections under any party for we have the population.
Chief Omeje who is equally the current chairman of Mushin Traders Association (MTA), therefore advised Ndigbo to eschew selfishness, bitterness, zero interest in welfare of others but to rise up to the current development of being our brothers' keepers.
In his own contribution, the former PRO of Independent Businessmen Association,MTA, Mr Chukwunonso Okoye, MD/CEO of Issomac Big. Ltd,expressed confidence in the leadership ability of the chairman-elect.
Mr. Okoye disclosed that the overwhelming support he got at the election was an ample testimony of his ability to deliver. "He has the trust of the masses, and equal to the task. I have no doubt about his ability to deliver on his promises," he remarked.
